Dear Eastwood Academy School Parents and Students:
After five amazing years of being a part of Eastwood Academy High School and thirty four years in public education, I recently announced my plans to retire. The decision was not an easy one because of my deep connection to the school, students, staff, and the school community.
I will always cherish my years in the Houston Independent School District. I consider these years to be an extremely rewarding time in my life. I am fortunate to have been a part of such a vibrant and supportive community; a community where education is valued as a top priority by students, teachers, and parents alike.
I am extraordinarily proud of Eastwood Academy’s incredible faculty and staff, and I know the tradition of excellence will continue. I feel humbled by the fact that parents in our community have entrusted their most precious “commodity”—their children—in my hands. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your professionalism, support, and encouragement all these years.
I am confident that our district will select a great new principal with experience and a true passion for helping both students and teachers be successful. The district is very interested in the qualities you would like the new principal to possess. You may provide your input at a community meeting on Tuesday, June 21 at 6 p.m. in the Lecture Hall at Eastwood Academy. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you may e-mail the qualities you would like to see in the new principal to Eastwood’s School Support Officer, Jennifer Topper, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our current Dean of Students, Brandi Lira, will be serving as interim principal until a new principal is chosen. The district will keep you informed about the progress of the search.
We appreciate your continued patience and support. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Jennifer Topper at 713-556-8825.
Paula Fendley, Ed.D.
