| If you have expertise, experience, or a passion for your career, hobby, subject, or special interest, then consider becoming a member of HISD's Speakers Bureau. Sharing your knowledge with district students could help tomorrow's leaders discover their path to success today. |
HISD’s Office of Strategic Partnerships is recruiting speakers for its newly revitalized “Speakers Bureau.”
If you have expertise, experience, or a passion for your career, hobby, subject, or special interest, you are needed by teachers as guest speakers to enrich the educational experiences of HISD students.
This is an opportunity for community members to share the world of work, fascinating hobbies, breath-taking world travels, and other exciting topics with district students by making a 30–45 minute presentation, then answering students’ questions.
Speakers are in demand in a variety of subjects, especially regarding careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Other requested topics include: ecology/environment, health issues, history, and personal growth and development (goal setting, leadership, study skills, team building, etc.).
To join the HISD Speakers Bureau of approved speakers, submit the attached registration form (PDF) and follow the instructions.
Potential speakers must also pass an online background check through Volunteers in Public Schools before being approved to make presentations.
Upon receipt of the registration form and completion of the background check, speakers will be contacted by Dr. Gwen Samples. For additional information, contact Dr. Samples at 713-556-7214 or gsamples@houstonisd.org.
