HISD Alert Line

For Employees to Use to Report Fraud, Theft, Waste, or Any Other Impropriety

One of the most important things it takes for people to perform at their best is a secure working environment. After all, no one should feel threatened with questionable or even unlawful activities by colleagues or associates while at work.

To help employees feel at ease on the job, the Houston Independent School District operates a 24-hour toll-free AlertLine (1-800-455-9551), which they can use to report suspected or confirmed fraud, theft, waste, or any other impropriety by anyone on the job. All calls remain anonymous and are kept confidential by an independent firm.

"Employees should always feel comfortable in the workplace and certainly at ease about going to their immediate supervisors first to resolve issues," says Superintendent of Schools Abelardo Saavedra. "However, we do realize that there may be times when an employee would prefer more confidentiality, and that’s when he or she can call the AlertLine. In either case, the district will make sure that employees’ concerns are handled in a timely, professional, and confidential manner."

HISD likewise has a TipLine (713-641-7446) available that employees, as well as students and their parents, can call to report threats of violence, acts of vandalism, theft, or any other school-related criminal activity. As with the AlertLine, all calls are confidential.
