High-Frequency Word List
UPDATE 07-09-10: Please note that the lists below are currently being updated. The final lists for the new school year (2010-2011) will be available by August 16.
In accordance with HISD's Promotion Standards, students in grades 1 and 2 must earn a passing score on HISD’s High-Frequency Word Evaluation.

| The following words have been selected from the Most Frequent Words in Books for Beginning Readers and the Dolch Word List. Your child is responsible for all of these words. Words from this list will be used on the High-Frequency Word Evaluation as a measure for promotion. These words are a foundation only. Your child should not only be able to read the words on the list, but should also be able to read them in sentences. | |||
