New Employee Orientation is the first step you can take in getting to know the district and what it means to be an employee of HISD.  Topics covered include employee benefits and retirement options as well as HISD's Strategic Direction and employee policies.  We hope that you will join us.

New Teacher Academy 2014
 
Each year HISD hosts New Teacher Academy for all teachers new to Houston ISD - beginning and experienced teachers. During this week of professional development, teachers get to learn more about the district, take a deep dive into curriculum and resources, and be trained on the Teacher Appraisal & Development Systems (TADS).

Teacher Appraisal & Development System (TADS) Training 
 
The Teacher Appraisal and Development System (TADS) is designed to provide you regular feedback through conferences with your appraiser. Visit our Teacher Appraisal page for more information. You are required to complete the TADS training within 15 instructional days from your date of hire. Register (once you receive your network access) by completing the following steps: 

  • Log in to https://HISDeLearn.org and click on “Self Registration.”
  • Find “Course Offering Code – EL1604, Course Offering Name – Teacher Appraisal and Development System (TADS).”
  • Click on title of course “Teacher Appraisal & Development System (TADS) Starts month/date – EL1604_00xx.”
  • You will be able to begin the course immediately.

Associate Teacher Orientation

The ATO is designed to provide an overview of HISD’s expectations and policies for associate teachers.  This half-day training offers an exciting opportunity for participants to learn basic classroom management strategies, navigate the AESOP system, and access the district’s portal and email.
