The state of Texas offers a Minimum High School Diploma, the Recommended High School Diploma and the Distinguished High School Diploma.
 
Lamar High School only offers the Recommended High School Program (see below) and the Distinguished High School Diploma (IB Diploma).
 
The Recommended High School Program encourages students to take rigorous mathematics, science, and social studies classes, plus computer science, fine arts, and two or three years of a foreign language. It targets high-level proficiencies and is designed to be a full, instead of a minimum, preparation program (Minimum High School Diploma). It also provides students with the flexibility to build a strong foundation of specialized knowledge and skills in specific academic or career areas.
