Title I is a federally-funded program. The purpose is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and State academic assessments. Eastwood Academy has a school-wide program, ALL students are Title I students and are eligible for services through Title I. Eastwood Academy qualifies as a Title I school based on the percentage of students on free/reduced lunch.
The intent of Title I is to use funds to supplement, not supplant; to provide extra services, instructional materials, etc., not core requirements. Eastwood Academy's Title I program provides funding for additional staff. As Title I Coordinator I work with teachers and staff to provide interventions to those students who need additional help in passing the STAAR. Parental Involvement is another big part of Title I.
