During the month of April our health science students will be taking the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). The TEAS is used as part of the admissions process by Nursing and Allied Health schools nationwide. To be enrolled in the LVN program at Houston Community College, all LVN students are required to take and pass the test.
As we begin to prepare our students for this test, I wanted to provide you with information that will help explain more about both TEAS and HCC Coleman College admissions. I have included some helpful links to websites you may wish to visit. Students will have the opportunity to use study manuals and take practice test during Spring Break tutorials and up until the testing date. Furthermore, students will have additional tutoring by Jones faculty to also prepare them.
If the students are not successful with the TEAS, students will have the opportunity to move into the RN track (only with passing Texas Success Imitative (TSI) scores) which will allow them to take transferrable academic courses to four-year Texas public university nursing programs.
We encourage you to visit these sites and help partner with us as we prepare our students for success. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
