On March 7, 2009 Stephen F. Austin’s FBLA Chapter went to Seven Lakes High School in Katy, Texas for the Area V Leadership Conference and Competition. We had twelve members from our chapter participate and our two sponsors are Mrs. Mary Ann Williams and Mrs. Vonda Hughes. The morning started off in a session listening to the candidates make speeches for the 2009-2010 district officers.

The keynote speaker, Gilbert A. Castro PhD, gave a presentation over the relationship between healthcare and businesses and how the Houston Medical Center is a big business. After the first session everyone went to the rooms to participate in the competitive events. As the events finished the chapters were able to choose a workshop to sit in and benefit from the knowledge of the business leaders that attended that day.

After lunch we sat back in the auditorium for the final round in the Battle of the Chapters, election/installation of offices, award ceremony and door prizes. In the award ceremony Anastasia Ozain placed second in Impromptu Speaking which advanced her to the state level competition and Nancy Lemus placed fifth in Marketing.
