Registration Closed for Math, Science Teacher Interview Days

In response to the increasing global demand for college-ready graduates with strong math and science skills, HISD Recruitment Services will be holding screening interviews exclusively for secondary math and science teachers on Thursday, May 28, and Friday, May 29, 2009.

Recruiters are looking for the most talented, most highly qualified teachers available, who hold the following certifications:

  • Math, Grades 8-12
  • Science Composite, Grades 8-12
  • Math, Grades 4-8
  • Science, Grades 4-8

Interested candidates may register online until Wednesday, May 27, 2009 or until capacity is reached.

Candidates must either have a standard certification or already be enrolled in an Alternative Certification Program and have passing content test scores.

Please note that interview days are not open to current contract HISD teachers. If you have already interviewed with an HISD recruiter, it is not necessary to register again.

Interviews will be exactly 15 minutes each, and candidates will be asked to respond in writing to several short answer questions. Please bring the following items with you, which are required before the recruitment team can review your application:

  • A copy of your resume and a cover letter
  • A copy of your current teaching certificate or copies of documents that prove your eligibility to teach in Texas (ACP acceptance letter, passing test score report, or a letter from SBEC indicating eligibility for Texas certification)
  • A copy of all university transcripts
  • The names, phone numbers, and mailing addresses of five professional references. At least one must be a former principal. You may also bring letters of reference if you have them available. If next year will be your first year of teaching, please list your cooperating teacher.
  • Copies of your teacher or student teacher evaluations
  • One sample lesson plan
  • Your Social Security card and government issued photo ID (i.e. driver’s license, passport, etc.)
  • If applicable, please bring all visa paperwork to verify your eligibility for employment
