Celebrate Parental Involvement Day at Northwest Mall November 12

HISD is holding a Parental Involvement Day Celebration on Thursday, November 12, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Northwest Mall (9600 Hempstead, 77092), which is located directly across the street from the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center (4400 W. 18th, 77092)

HISD representatives will recognize parents for their commitment to and support of the district. Attendees will receive information on various programs, including the Parent Prep Academy, Title I-Parental Involvement, Multilingual Services, and HISD Board Services.

HISD partners will also be present to provide information on CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program), METRO, the Girl Scouts, Project GRAD, the Houston Public Library, and other vital information.

“This annual event in one way of showing parents that HISD values the partnership we have in our shared commitment to reducing the drop-out rate and developing students to be college- and workforce-ready when they graduate from an HISD school,” said Director of Parent Engagement Karen B. Cotton.

National Parental Involvement Day is November 19, 2009.
