The HISD Police Department is dedicated to providing a safe environment for over 200,000 students, faculty, and staff, as well as visitors and residents of the communities served by the district, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

The department's 900 personnel include 200 commissioned peace officers, 650 crossing guards, 13 prevention control officers, 15 substance abuse monitors, 12 dispatchers and an 11-member support staff.

The department’s 303-square-mile jurisdiction consists of all areas within the boundaries of the Houston Independent School District and locations owned, leased or rented outside the district.
