This "New Teachers" site, is specially designed to support to HISD beginning teachers and their mentors in an effort to help make both of their professional transitions as smooth as possible. The PDS New Teacher Team invites you to check back regularly to take advantage of the resources and support found in this learning community to ensure a successful learning and teaching experience for all.

New teachers in Houston ISD are required to attend a six-hour appraisal training that provides an overview of the Professional Development and Appraisal System (PDAS). Email questions to:  Melanie Evans-Smith.

• provide available resources and support, and
• create an opportunity for relationship building so that new employees experience success in their positions and the District is able to retain excellent employees.
