About East Region


The Houston Independent School District’s East Region is made up of 43 schools throughout Houston’s East Side. The East Region serves more than 32,000 students in Pre-K through grade 12. Students from across the Houston area travel to East Region schools to participate in innovative programs for engineering, oil industry technology, early college preparation, dual credit courses, gifted and talented, and Magnet programs. East Region schools offer challenging academic curricula that supports the college-bound culture of HISD.

 LEGO Robotics Competition -Milby High School

Team Milby Robo-Buffs Competed in a World Robotics Competition in Michigan.  LARA won the People's Choice Award.  LARA was transported through the airports in a wheelchair and even had her own seat on the plane.  LARA caused alot of commotion in Michigan. She had several pictures taken of her and even made several friends in Michigan.  She had her own seat in the airplane and was even invited to sit in the pilot's seat.  This was made all possible from funds received from Doris Richardson of IPAA and Dr. Douglas Kleiner, CEO of Education Foundation of Harris County.
