Mission Statement—The South Region is a diverse region with high expectations for all students. We believe that all students can learn, and we are committed to enhancing the full potential of all students through academic programs. In cooperation with parents and the community, the team of administrators and staff in the South Region seek to assist schools in providing academic excellence for all students through a balanced, dynamic curriculum, increased student achievement, improved management efficiency, improved public support and confidence, a positive district culture, and a facilities-to-standards program. We are committed to producing students who excel in both the academic and affective arenas, while exceeding shareholder expectations through continuous improvement. Our goal is to foster an environment that is conducive to teaching and learning every day.
Administration—Houston Independent School District Regional Offices are responsible for administrative oversight, service support and parental assistance for an average of fifty schools in each region.
Instruction—Teaching and learning in the region's feeder patterns are overseen by Executive Principals whose primary job is to make sure that academic achievement improves.
Student/Family Support—Each regional office has a manager charged with communicating closely with families and establishing school-based parent programs designed to help parents become more active in their child's education. As an extension of the central administration, the regional offices also offer schools services to support students with diverse instructional needs, including those in bilingual studies, Special Education, and gifted-and-talented courses.
