Food Service Substitutes

Duties: preparing, serving, and cleaning up food at assigned schools throughout the district

Pay: $8.00/hour

Schedule: four to seven hours a day

The HISD Food Services Department is currently hiring Food Service Substitutes.

Applicants must possess good oral and written communication skills (in English); have a positive, cheerful attitude geared towards customer service; be able to handle food and equipment safely; be able to follow directions and recipes; be able to lift and transport boxes weighing at least 40 pounds; have six months related experience; and have reliable transportation.

Candidates must also successfully complete a background check and drug test before an offer of employment can be made. Those who are hired will be required to travel to different locations as needed.
