Immigrant Students The Title III Immigrant Education Program funded under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (Public Law 107-110), provides supplemental educational services to students born outside the United States who have been attending school in the United States for less than three complete academic years. The program helps students improve their academic skills and maintain school achievement. Services offered include intensive ESL classes, tuition vouchers for high school credit courses, distance-learning high school courses, counseling services, parent outreach, and information on college opportunities for immigrant students regardless of documentation status.
English Language Learners The Title III English Language Learning (ELL) Program funded under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (Public Law 107-110), provides supplemental and support services to students that do not have the English proficiency to be successful in the mainstream program. The intent is to supplement the regular bilingual or ESL program and not to supplant existing state requirements. Funds have been decentralized to schools to improve the English language proficiency of LEP students, train teachers on effective strategies for English language learners, and train parents on ways to help their children achieve in school.
