The grad lab deadline for all students is May 9. It is important that all students meet the grad lab deadlines. It will effect senior graduation if the deadline is not met. Please speak to Mrs. Acevedo if you have questions or concerns about meeting the deadline.

The varsity boys and girls tennis teams competed in the district tennis meet on April 7. The boys team won 1st placed in district. Junior Jonathan Garcia-Loza won 1st place in the boy's singles and junior Ramon Cardenas placed 3rd. Garcia-Loza will compete at regionals and Cardenas will serve as an alternate. Senior Ray Jones and junior Oscar Zaragoza won 2nd place in boy's doubles and will compete at the regional tournament. Sophomore Gerald Johnson and sophomore Andrew Jones places 3rd in doubles and will serve as alternates at the regional tournament. Seniors Victoria Martinez and Demi MItchell won 1st place in girls doubles and will compete at the regional tournament. Sophomore Shaxavier Johnson and sophomore Jonathan Crew won 1st place in mixed doubles and will compete at the regional tournament. Freshman Da'Sean Crew will serve as an alternate for Crew. The regional tournament will be held in College Station, Texas. Congratulations to the tennis team and good luck at regionals.
The Spartan Football Camp will be held May 12-May 23 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. This is a great opportunity to start preparing for next season. Participants will work on weight training, agility, speed, quickness, offense and defense. There will also be classroom sessions for participants to gain a better understanding the game. On Saturday, March 29, 2014, the G. C. Scarborough Cheer Squad competed against twenty-one stellar squads in the national CHEER & DANCE/DRILL TEAM America Six Flags Fiesta Texas Cheer Competition. Your Spartans received the highest award for school spirit, the highest award for sportsmanship, and an overall rating of first place for the 3A school division. When you see the squad members today, please congratulate them on their efforts. A special thanks to Mr. Catchings, Mrs. Calloway, Mrs. McMillan, Mrs. Romero, and Ms. Morris for making our trip and the competition possible. WE ARE SPARTAN PROUD!!! The following varsity boys basketball players were selected for All-District. John Janacek: 1st Team All-District (second highest vote total in the district); Christen Johnson: 2nd Team All-District; Justin Steward: All-District Honorable Mention; Jorge Martinez: All-District Honorable Mention; Jonathan Garcia-Loza: All-District Honorable Mention. Congratulations to the entire boys basketball team for all of their achievements on and off the court.
The Showstoppers competed in two dance competitions this past month. At the Northwest Houston Regional competition on Feb. 22, the Showstopper's took home 1st place in Division 1 Small Team Lyrical and 2nd place in Division 1 Small Team Novelty. At the HISD Regional competition on Feb. 8, the Showstopper's took home Superior Ratings for both the lyrical and novelty routines and Judges High Point Award for the lyrical routine. The boys and girls track team completed at the Magnolia ISD Relay meet this past weekend in Magnolia. Senior Marquise Williams placed 5th in the triple jump with a 41'6" jump. Personal records were set by junior Jorge Martinez in the mile run with 4:58.61 and senior Sean Holmes in the shot put at 41'9". The next competition will be March 1st at the Houston Invitational at Burnett Stadium.
The fourth payment of $50.00 for the Senior Package is due on March 1st. The Senior Package includes one prom ticket, one senior t-shirt, all senior week activities and one diploma cover. On Feb. 5, seniors Justin Steward and Derek Walpool participated in National Signing Day at the Region IV Education Service Center. Steward and Walpool signed with Bacone College in Oklahoma. Click the headline to see pictures from the event.
The Etail/Retail class visited the Walmart Distribution Center in Sealy on Feb. 5. The students took a tour of the facility and learned how the world's largest retailer delivers goods to over 90 stores in the Houston area. Click the headline to see a group picture of the field trip.
Congratulations to sophomore Tesla Scott for winning gold at the district level for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art competition.
