  • Habit 6-Together is Better

    I value other people’s strengths and learn from them. I get along well with others, even people who are different than me. I work well in groups. I seek out other people’s ideas to solve problems because I know that by teaming with others we can create better solutions than anyone of us can alone. I am humble.

    Many HISD families have been devastated by the catastrophic flooding in the Houston area caused by Hurricane Harvey, and HISD welcomes assistance from local individuals and organizations, plus state and national groups or corporations that would like to help our students recover and prepare for the coming school year.   • 2016-17 Pennies for Patients Raises Over $5,000!

    Thank you all for joining in the spirit of giving and helping our campus to raise more than $5,000 dollars in our spring campaign drive to help sick babies, children, and adults with cancer to get healthier.   • Longfellow Participates in Texas UIL Solo/Ensemble Festival

    Saturday, March 4th - 22 students from Longfellow's Orchestra and 5 from Longfellow's Band participated in the Texas UIL Solo/Ensemble Festival. They played solo works by composers such as Bach, Beethoven, and Weber. All participants earned "I" and "II" ratings, an exemplary performance from our young musicians.

  • Huge THANK YOU to the Tabora Family!

    The Kindergarten, Pre-K teachers, and students would like to send out a big thank you to the Tabora family for making an incredibly generous donation to our school! Thanks to their wonderful act of kindness, our students will get to go on five super fun field trips this year! We had been told at the beginning of the year that we would not have funding available for field trips or buses this year, but thanks to the Tabora family’s support, we will be visiting these fabulous places: Miller Outdoor Theater, Dewberry Farms, Main Street Theater, The Hobby Center, and The Houston Zoo! We are so incredibly grateful to the Taboras for this amazing gift.Thank you so much from all of us!

    Saturday, May 21, 2016 - Our “Girls On The Run” 5K run was at the University of Houston. Amani Randall, Lailanique Clark, Jasmine Waters, Serenitii Holland, and Jaleya Butler earned medals for completing the course and the 5K run! We are very proud of you girls!

  • Congratulations Accelerated Reader All-Stars!

    We'd like to recognize Peter R., who set a record for the most points ever earned by a Longfellow student with an astounding 784.0 total Accelerated Reader (AR) points. The previous title-holder was Nathan R. (his brother) with 690 points! We'd also like to recognize the following students who have earned AR points by reading books, taking and passing tests (Being Proactive, Beginning with the End in Mind).   • Longfellow Elementary Hosts Leadership Expo

    April 7, 2016 - During the day-long expo, students acted as guides, greeting visitors, shaking hands, and welcoming them to Longfellow. In their classrooms, students explained some of the components of “The Leader in Me,” which include each class’s mission statement, every student’s leadership notebook, and individual “anchor charts,” which focus on an area where the student needs support.   • Pennies for Patients Raises over $4,000!

    UPDATE: We've had another AMAZINGLY successful “Pennies for Patients” Cancer Campaign this school year! From April 22-May 13th our students and staff synergized with the community and raised a whopping $4,056.36 !! The money will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help cancer patients and their families in the Texas Medical Center and Texas Gulf Coast area. Click here to see the details.

  • Fundraiser raises $500 for Area Flood Victims

    UPDATE: Our $1 Free Dress Fridays over four weeks grossed (with parent, staff, student contributions) a remarkable $500 dollars! Longfellow will donate the funds to the Greater Houston Flood Recovery Fund to help people in Harris, Montgomery, and Ft. Bend counties affected by the recent April 18th Houston-area floods.Thank you for your support!

  • Holiday Food & Supplies Drive Benefits Star of Hope

    January 4, 2017 - Thank you all for joining in the spirit of giving and helping our campus to raise more than 8,000 lbs. of food, water, and toiletries to help underprivileged people during this 2016 holiday season. Proceeds benefited the Star of Hope Men’s Women’s and Family Homeless Shelters. The 4-week campaign’s total was 8, 704 lbs. raised (more than 4 TONS)! This is an ALL-time high for our school and we couldn’t have done it without your support! Click on the image for more details.

  • Hidden Heroes on KHOU-CBS

    Beginning October 4, 2015, a family TV show will air nationwide for 52 weeks on CBS. The show will promote tolerance, respect, compassion, and making good decisions.
