Saturday, March 4th - 22 students from Longfellow's Orchestra and 5 from Longfellow's Band participated in the Texas UIL Solo/Ensemble Festival. They played solo works by composers such as Bach, Beethoven, and Weber. All participants earned "I" and "II" ratings, an exemplary performance from our young musicians.

Saturday, May 21, 2016 - Our “Girls On The Run” 5K run was at the University of Houston. Amani Randall, Lailanique Clark, Jasmine Waters, Serenitii Holland, and Jaleya Butler earned medals for completing the course and the 5K run! We are very proud of you girls!
We'd like to recognize Peter R., who set a record for the most points ever earned by a Longfellow student with an astounding 784.0 total Accelerated Reader (AR) points. The previous title-holder was Nathan R. (his brother) with 690 points! We'd also like to recognize the following students who have earned AR points by reading books, taking and passing tests (Being Proactive, Beginning with the End in Mind). April 7, 2016 - During the day-long expo, students acted as guides, greeting visitors, shaking hands, and welcoming them to Longfellow. In their classrooms, students explained some of the components of “The Leader in Me,” which include each class’s mission statement, every student’s leadership notebook, and individual “anchor charts,” which focus on an area where the student needs support. UPDATE: Our $1 Free Dress Fridays over four weeks grossed (with parent, staff, student contributions) a remarkable $500 dollars! Longfellow will donate the funds to the Greater Houston Flood Recovery Fund to help people in Harris, Montgomery, and Ft. Bend counties affected by the recent April 18th Houston-area floods.Thank you for your support!

January 4, 2017 - Thank you all for joining in the spirit of giving and helping our campus to raise more than 8,000 lbs. of food, water, and toiletries to help underprivileged people during this 2016 holiday season. Proceeds benefited the Star of Hope Men’s Women’s and Family Homeless Shelters. The 4-week campaign’s total was 8, 704 lbs. raised (more than 4 TONS)! Beginning October 4, 2015, a family TV show will air nationwide for 52 weeks on CBS. The show will promote tolerance, respect, compassion, and making good decisions. It will regularly feature the series of books using stories and content from the books (Chicken Soup for the Soul) as part of the programming. Click here for more information.
