6th Grade Assistant Principal
Mr. Pineda is a native of Vallehermoso, Tamulipas, Mexico, and moved to Houston with his family at an early age. He attended John Marshall Middle School and graduated from Jefferson Davis High School (called Northside High School today). He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Writing from the University of Houston Downtown and a Master's in Educational Administration from the University of Texas in Austin. He is the first in his family to attend and graduate from college.
Mr. Pineda began his professional career at the University of Houston Downtown as an Educational Talent Search Advising Assistant. He left UHD to begin teaching ELA in the Dual Language Program at Burbank Middle School, teaching both students of English as a Second Language as well as Gifted and Talented students. Mr. Pineda was teaching ELA concurrently at Liberty High School in Houston, a high school which met at night and was tailored to meet the needs of recent arrivals from many Latin American countries. He remained working in both schools until he began his work as an Assistant Principal at Burbank Middle School five years ago. Mr. Pineda is currently our 6th grade Assistant Principal.
Mr. Pineda has dedicated his career to helping students achieve these goals: improve their academic performance, increase their motivation to achieve, increase their pride and satisfaction in performance, and improve their self-confidence. As a bilingual teacher, Mr. Pineda is committed to educating Houston's diverse population.
