Mr. Christopher Ellison
I grew up in the San Antonio area most of my childhood and I graduated from Angelo State University in 2001 with a Bachelor's degree in history. From 2001-2002 I was a teaching assistant. Then from 2002-2017 I was an elementary teacher teaching 2nd-5th Grade in various subject areas. Meanwhile, from March 2017 until now I have been an Elementary Special Education Resource Teacher and this year I am the Special Education Chairperson for our campus. In addition, I graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2008 with a Master's in Educational Administration.
Special Education is very important to me for many reasons, but one reason in particular is that I received Special Education services as a child as well and was retained in 2nd Grade. Being retained was difficult for me, but once I got to 3rd Grade I had caught up to the other students and was able to go back to regular classes.
Special Education Resource is different now than when I was a child, because now we try to keep our students with all of their other classmates as much as possible. I think this is a very good thing, because then they don't feel singled out and feel more comfortable. This in turn I believe helps them to be more successful.
I believe that all students have weaknesses and needs whether they are in Special Education or not, and I have always enjoyed meeting the needs of all students.
My conference time is 12:25-1:20.
