The 2019-2020 school year is the start of my 16th year as a teacher. Prior to becoming an educator I worked as an interior designer or within the design community for more than 20 years. My life experiences are many and varied but include working in a bank, as a merchant seaman, as an exterminator, telemarketer, and hammock weaver on a hippie commune.

I am the first member of my family to graduate from high school or attend college. Neither of my parents graduated from high school but pushed for their children to do so. I have taught 7th grade middle school and all grades levels of high school.  I am a big believer in the power of reading to change the lifes of my students and to help build understanding and empathy.

This year I will be teaching two courses not offered last year: AP Language and Composition and AP Capstone Seminar.  Additionally, I will continue to teach 10th grade Pre-AP English (what can I say, I love my 10th graders).
