Teaching Experience
I am excited to be entering my fifth year teaching at CVHS. I am a Pre-AP English I and II teacher, as well as the teacher for Honors Journalism and advisor for Upstream News at CVHS. I also sponsor the following clubs: Students for Refugee Awareness, American Sign Language, Mental Health Awareness and Big Brother Big Sister.
Go Rhinos!
Before coming to CVHS, I taught English at a HISD middle school for three years and high school English in Brooklyn, NY for one year. I am also a HISD parent as well!
Before Teaching
I grew up in Houston and graduated from Bellaire High School (go Cardinals!) in HISD before recieving my B.A. at Columbia University in New York City, having majored in American history. (Go Lions!)
In New York City, I worked as a journalist and then as a community organizer for many years, bringing together community members across racial, gender, and ethnic barriers to fight for their rights in their workplace and communities.
Thereafter, I recieved my M.A. in English and Education from Brooklyn College and taught high school English for one year before moving back to Houston with my family.
My Favorites
My favorite things to do, when I have time, is to read (theory and history), write (poetry, short stories, and op-eds), swim, run, and bike!
