• Thank you for considering the Mickey Leland College Preparatory Academy for Young Men (MLCPA) as the school for your child's secondary education.

    Students who attend the MLCPA will experience a small and inclusive environment enriched with a rigorous college preparatory curriculum, in partnership with The College Board.
     
    All students will experience Pre-Advanced Placement and Advanced Placement courses, which will give our students rigor in preparation for college.

    Character development, which will ensure our young men develop the necessary skills to be responsible and productive citizens.

    MLCPA is gaining constant buzz in and around the City of Houston, and HISD is exploring potential partnerships with several foundations, area businesses, and community leaders. Through these partnerships, we are hoping to be able to provide our incoming students with school uniforms, consisting of a blazer, two neckties, two pair of khaki pants, and two white shirts.

    Today’s young man experiences numerous life challenges and needs constant support to ensure success in all facets of life. It is our goal at the MLCPA to ensure adequate supports are in place to support the whole child (intellectually, physically, and emotionally) as detailed in the HISD Secondary Framework for Success.
