• When do you start taking applications?

    Applications for the 2017-2018 school year will be available starting  September  22, 2017.

    How do you apply?


    Applications can be submitted both online and on paper.

    You can apply to a total of five (5) Magnet Programs at https://www.houstonisd.org/Page/120695


    What is the deadline to apply?


    Applications must be turned in no later than December 8, 2017, for guaranteed consideration
    in the first round of applicants.
    How are the students selected into this magnet program?
    All applications received are put into a lottery. The first 250 students from the lottery are offered seats in the 6th Grade. BCMAR does not accept students in 7th or 8th grade. 

    What if my application is late? 

    Applications received after December 8th will be accepted, but only considered on a space available basis.



    What can be submitted as proof of HISD residency?


    We will only accept the following: a current (within the last three months) electric bill,
    natural gas bill, water bill, or a valid lease agreement (if the residence is an apartment).


    What if the utility bills are in someone else’s name? What else would you need?

    As per Federal and State Compliance, the following documentation is needed: photo identification,a Statement of Residence form, a letter from the HISD-zoned resident with whom the family lives,stating how long the applicant and parent(s) have lived at that address, and the resident’s current electric bill, natural gas bill,water bill, or valid lease agreement.


    How many students are accepted into your program? 

    We have about 250 spaces available for 6th graders.  

     Do you provide transportation?

    HISD Transportation Department will provide transportation to everyone who
    resides within HISD and lives more than 2 miles from our campus.
