Linked Learning in the NEWS

Four Components

College preparatory English, math, science, history and sometimes foreign language.	Courses help students gain career-based knowledge and skills.
Mentoring and job shadowing opportunities that evolve into internships/virtual apprenticeships.	Counseling and supplemental instruction in reading, writing and mathematics.

In 2014, HISD received the much-coveted federal Race To The Top District Grant. As the only urban school district in the country to receive Race To The Top funds, we can use the $30 million to support and transform our schools in what and how they teach.
