Our pre-Kinder teacher: Ms. Mariela Tueros was born and raised in Lima, Perú located in South America, land of the Incas and land of one of the 7 wonders of the world: Machu Picchu.
During her childhood she lived close to teachers and that is when her vocation started in teaching. When she was child she liked to read, write, dance, sing and represent stories. Even though Ms. Tueros had various school and family difficulties, nothing stopped her from achieving one of her biggest dreams: Being a teacher.
She studied Early Childhood Education at “Sacred Heart University” in Lima and she made a thesis about the rights of women in society. She also earned her master in “Learning Disabilities” in Lima in 1997. Since then, Ms. Tueros has devoted her whole life to the education of young children from 0 to 4 years in both rural and urban schools in Peru, including 3 years of teaching 4 years old students at “Navy School of Peru”.
When Ms. Tueros immigrated to Houston, Texas; she validated her studies in Early Childhood Education at the University of Saint Thomas getting three certifications: Early Childhood Education, Elementary Self-Contained and Bilingual/ESL certification
Ms. Tueros is proud to be part of Sanchez Elementary School since 2001 as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher: "This is more than a job for me; it is the opportunity to be in contact with children and their learning. This is my motor and reason. "
