• Our Program of Inquiry (POI) is designed to enrich your child's learning experience at The School at St. George Place from grade PK - 5th.  Each grade level targets a specific aspect of the theme in exploring their unit of inquiry.  Our POI outlines the theme focus for students at The School at St. George Place.  Explore our POI, grade level themes and units of inquiry. When developing a strong program of inquiry, teachers and administrators consider the transdisciplinary themes and the subject-specific knowledge, concepts and skills.   The most significant and distinctive feature of the IB Primary Years Programme is the six transdisciplinary themes. These themes are about issues that have meaning for, and are important to, all of us. The programme offers a balance between learning about or through the subject areas, and learning beyond them. The six themes of global significance create a transdisciplinary framework that allows students to "step up" beyond the confines of leaning within subject areas. The six transdisciplinary themes help teachers to develop a programme of inquiries - in-depth investigations into important ideas, identified by the teachers, and requiring a high level of involvement on the part of the students. Teachers are guided by these six transdisciplinary themes as they design units of inquiry that both transcend and articulate conventional subject boundaries through language, social studies, mathematics, arts, science, personal, social and physical education. These inquiries are substantial, in-depth and usually last for several weeks.

Primary Years Program (PYP) Transdisciplinary Themes
    Themes
    These themes:
    • have global significance—for all students in all cultures
    • offer students the opportunity to explore the commonalities of human experience
    • are supported by knowledge, concepts and skills from the traditional subject areas but utilize them in ways that transcend the confines of these subjects, thereby contributing to a transdisciplinary model of teaching and learning
    • will be revisited throughout the students’ years of schooling, so that the end result is immersion in broad-ranging, in-depth, articulated curriculum content
    • contribute to the common ground that unifies the curriculums in all PYP schools.
Each grade level targets a specific aspect of the theme in exploring their unit of inquiry.  Our POI outlines the theme focus for students at The School at St. George Place.  Explore our POI, grade level themes and units of inquiry.
