Hello! I have taught first grade and kindergarten for over 5 years and specialize in reading recovery. The best part about teaching at The School at St.George Place is the diverse population of students. Each day is a new exciting adventures and I look foward to helping your child grow.
"I teach because I like to see each child grow through the year. I believe each child has a natural curiosity about his or her world and I love to observe and harness this inquisitive energy. I encourage these "wonders" in my classroom daily. Five and six year olds ask dozens of questions every day. Rather than attempting to answer all of them, I encourage my students to seek their own answers. We actively track our questions about the world with our "Wonder Wall." We make our classroom a safe place to think aloud and ask questions. To achieve this, I encourage engaged listening. That means we recognize that we have two ears, two eyes and only one mouth for a reason: We actively listen to and look at the speaker. We learn to research the answers using our resources in a kid-friendly manner. Helping my students discover their world and how to seek answers on their own is a task I enjoy. My reward is seeing the enhanced child at the end of the school year."
