About Coach Locke:
I was born and raised in a suburb of Toledo, Ohio called Perrysburg. I graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in Physical Education (Go Falcons!). After graduation I migrated to Houston, Texas with my twin sister in search of adventure, opportunity, and warmer weather.
Upon arriving in Houston, I got my first real teaching gig at Royal ISD in Brookshire, Texas. I taught PE at Royal Elementary and coached Varsity Soccer and JV Volleyball at Royal High School. Since I had my CDL, I also served as part time bus driver for the district. In a time before Google maps, and navigation devices this aspect of the job proved to be my greatest challenge.
After a 2 year stint in Brookshire, I transferred to HISD to lessen my 38 mile commute. I then spent the next 6 years teaching at Dogan Elementary located in the Fifth Ward. Teaching at Dogan was a rewarding, eye opening experience. Working in the Fifth Ward taught me life changing lessons about societal challenges, the educational system, and the great importance of building personal relationships with students.
After 6 years at Dogan I was then hired at Oak Forest Elementary in 2015. As a resident of Oak Forest myself (Ella Lee Forest), I am a very proud Bobcat. I feel very fortunate to be able to call OFE home, and absolutely love what I do. I truly enjoy coming to work every day, and I look forward to even further developing the Physical Education program at OFE.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy staying active. I am an avid runner, and can often be found running the streets of Oak Forest. My favorite sport is soccer, and I play for the the Houston Women’s Soccer Association. When I am not doing these things, I am busy spending time with my husband, and chasing my 3 year old son, Pace.
