Shearn Lions and their parents enjoyed our first ever Family Library Time Book Celebration after school on Tuesday, October 18. The event was organized by Senior Girl Scout Ashley Mueller who has adopted Shearn's library for her Gold Award project. Ms. Mueller collected hundreds of books to give to our students and also recruited volunteers from Bellaire High School to provide fun activities including face painting, snacks, and a Harry Potter photo booth.

Families also enjoyed a bilingual story time provided by Shearn parents and PTO officers Luci Christian Bell and Orlando Valencia. And finally, Shearn 2nd grade teacher and book illustrator Alex Martin created hand-drawn bookmarks for students in attendance.

The purpose of the event was to highlight our weekly Family Library Time. Mrs. Robinson signed up parents in attendance as Shearn Library patrons so that they can come after school on Tuesdays and check out books with their children to read at home. She also highlighted the importance of parents reading to and with their children at home. All families are invited to join Mrs. Robinson every Tuesday any time between 3:30 and 5:45 for book check-out and use of library computers. Please let her know if you have any questions at lrobins3@houstonisd.org.
