Essential Question:
Monday- Why is it important to reflect on your successes, failures, and regrets?
Tuesday- Why is important to set and, most importantly, follow our goals and plan?
Wednesday- How does school pride and integrity help each of us maintain our goals?
Thursday-How does individual respect and responsibility affect the entire campus?
Instructional Introduction:
Explain to the students that they will work on the Spring 2018 Reflection and Goal Setting Handout throughout the week of January 8- 11. Upon completion of the form, the students should return it to their advocacy teacher. These forms will be used in future academic advisor sessions.

Monday:
- Distribute the Spring 2018 Reflection and Goal Setting Handout
- Direct the students to complete the "Academic and Personal Reflections for Fall 2017" section
- There are three categories The Good (Personal and Academic Accomplishments), The Bad (Personal and Academic Failures), and The Ugly (Personal and Academic Regrets)
- Discuss as an advocacy class: Why is it important to reflect on your successes, failures, and regrets?
- Advocacy instructors will collect the forms.
Tuesday:
- Distribute the Spring 2018 Reflection and Goal Setting Handout
- Direct the students to complete the "Academic Goal Setting and Planning for Spring 2018" section
- The students must create four Academic Goals and then provide a detailed plan for accomplishing that goal.
For Example:
Goal 1: I will attend tutorials
First, I will find out the tutorial dates/times for each of my teachers.
Next, I will make sure to go to Geometry tutorials twice a week- if possible.
Also, I will attend English tutorials because I need to improve my overall grade.
Finally, I will attend any tutorials that is recommended by my teacher or parent.

Wednesday:
- Distribute the Spring 2018 Reflection and Goal Setting Handout
- Today, the students will focus on the Student Code of Conduct concepts- Pride and Integrity
- Students must write down their plan for improving these Student Codes in Spring 2018. The questions provided are to serve as a guide and direction, but the student can go beyond the questions to complete each section.
- PRIDE: How will you increase your school pride and the pride of your classmates? What ideas do you have for improving school pride? What school events are you looking forward to in 2018? - Be specific / detailed.
- INTEGRITY: How can you demonstrate your integrity this semester? How can you assure that your classmates also follow the code of academic integrity? - Be specific / detailed.
- Discuss as an advocacy class: How does school pride and integrity help each of us maintain our goals?
- Advocacy instructors will collect the forms.
Thursday:
- Distribute the Spring 2018 Reflection and Goal Setting Handout
- Today, the students will focus on the Student Code of Conduct concepts- Respect and Responsibility
- Students must write down their plan for improving these Student Codes in Spring 2018. The questions provided are to serve as a guide and direction, but the student can go beyond the questions to complete each section.
- RESPECT: How can you be more respectful towards your classmates, teachers, and administrators? How can you demonstrate respect towards your academic work (completion of homework, studying, passing courses, and attending tutorials)? How can you show respect for your campus and the surrounding property? - Be specific / detailed.
- RESPONSIBILITY: How are you responsible for your own learning and academic success? How can you demonstrate academic responsibility? How can you assure that your classmates also follow the code of responsibility? - Be specific / detailed.
- Discuss as an advocacy class: How does individual respect and responsibility affect the entire campus?
- Advocacy instructors will collect the completed forms, which can be used during future advising sessions.
