Felicia Cesaer-White, Health & Physical Education Manager
Felicia Ceaser-White is from Beaumont, Texas. She serves as the Manager of Health and Physical Education Curriculum K-12 at Houston Independent School District. Felicia is a certified Health and Physical Education, Teacher and Athletic Coach. Felicia has a Bachelor of Science in Human Performance and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership. She has 16 years teaching experience in Health and Physical Education (HPE). She has taught at the middle school and high school levels in Houston ISD. She served as HISD Health Education Specialist for 6 years, and 4 years in her current role. Felicia oversees the development of Health and Physical Education Curriculum, Principal Investigator for the School-Based Adolescent HIV, STI and Teen Pregnancy Prevention and Surveillance Grant and coordinates the administration of the Youth Risk Behavior Survey and the School Health Profiles for the district. In this capacity, she also serves as the Professional Development Coordinator to plan and facilitate district wide Professional Development for all HPE teachers with a strong focus on Physical Activity, Nutrition Education, HIV/AIDS, STI and Teen Pregnancy Prevention Education. Felicia is a Basic National Archery in Schools Instructor, Angler Education Instructor and is working on completing her Master Outdoor Education Leadership Training. She also serves on the Texas Association for Health Physical Education Recreation and Dance (TAHPERD) in the Health Division, Future Directions Committee as well as the Exemplary Health and Physical Education Committee for the state organization. Felicia also serves as the district’s School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) Co- Chair. Felicia believes that health and physical education is a vital component in education that supports the development of the WHOLE CHILD.
Elaine Gomez, Curriculum Specialist
Elaine Gomez, a native Houstonian, earned her Bachelors of Arts in Teaching at Sam Houston State University, a Master’s of Science in Occupational Technology and Corporate Training from the University of Houston and a Ministry Internship from Lakewood Church in Houston. She is currently a K-12 Health Specialist in Secondary Health and Physical Education for Houston Independent School District. Professional memberships include Shape America, Texas Association of Health Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, American Canoe/Kayak Association, Professional Association of Dive Instructors, National Archery in the School Program, TPWD Volunteers, Bass Masters Association, National Parks Association, and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Current certifications include American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor, ARC Water Safety Instructor, ACA Kayak Instructor, PADI Nitox Rescue SCUBA Diver, Texas Parks and Wildlife Angler Ed Instructor, NASP Archery Instructor, TRTA, and State of Texas Teachers Certification in Health/Physical Education/English. Ms. Gomez has devoted 30 years to secondary education in roles that include classroom teacher, coach, department chair, mentor, trainer, and administrator. Some of her honors include HISD Teacher of the Year High School for Law and Justice, VP Recreational Division TAHPERD, TAHPERD Health Teacher of the Year, and HISD Health and Physical Education Program Promotion Award. Work experience includes designing/writing curriculum and assessments, designing/facilitating teacher trainings/professional development, setting up outside field experiences for students, coordinating the Centers for Disease Control – Division of Adolescent School Health Grant, coordinating and administering the YRBS/Health Profiles, conducting classroom observations, collecting and reporting district school data, meeting and collaborating with community partners and service providers, working with the district SHAC committee as well as educating administrators, parents and students.
