The Houston Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter (HMAC) was chartered by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in October of 1974. Since its inception, the Chapter has been actively involved in supporting local agencies, and sponsoring community workshops, a variety of awareness forums, health fairs, and educational opportunities for the members for the Greater Houston community, with specific emphasis on our youth.
Delta GEMS (Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully) was designed to catch the dreams of teenage girls by providing a road map for college and career planning through activities that offer opportunities for self-reflection and individual growth. The program is composed of five major components:

    1.)    Scholarship

    2.)    Sisterhood

    3.)    Show Me the Money

    4.)    Service

5.)    Infinitely Complete (college and career planning)

This year’s theme was “Think Like a Lady, Act Like a Boss.”  It expounded on the Show Me the Money component by empowering the young ladies to understand the concepts of Entrepreneurial Leaderships.

The Delta GEMS is open to High School female students in grades 9th-12th, Ages 14-18. Interested girls  must complete the application process and attend the orientation to be held in September 2018.
