In 2011, I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Elementary Education, with a Minor in ESL (Hook Em!). Upon graduating, I moved to Houston with my husband and pups and began my career in HISD where I taught Kinder-2nd grade and was my campus’s Primary Reading Specialist. I then moved to Spring Branch ISD where I was the campus Reading Specialist and Interventionist. I had the opportunity to support teachers with reading instruction and work with Kinder-5th grade students who were struggling with reading.I’m now starting my 3rd year at Durham Elementary where my duties include Teacher Specialist for Kinder and 1st grade, Gifted and Talented Coordinator, and Campus Testing Coordinator. Although my passion for education is instilling a love for reading with students, I also take pride in teaching students the social skills that are necessary to be tolerant members of a global society. My hope is that all Durham students leave with the ability to find success no matter where life takes them or who they might encounter on the way. I absolutely love Durham Elementary and can’t wait to continue to support the positive and engaging school culture that makes our students happy to be at school!
