Mr. Ryan Upshaw
Ryan Upshaw has served in education for 10 years. He began his career as a Biology Teacher and Baseball Coach at West Brook High School in Beaumont ISD. He then became an Assistant Principal at Charlton Pollard Elementary School in Beaumont ISD, Assistant Principal at Marshall Middle School in Beaumont ISD, and at Welch Middle School in Houston ISD for the past three years.
Ryan graduated from Humble High School in Northeast Houston and went on to play baseball at New Mexico Junior College. He then went to New Mexico State University on scholarship as a baseball player where he ultimately became 1st Team All-Conference in the Big West Conference. He also won National Player of the Week in May 1997 after defeating then #1 Ranked Texas Tech University. After his collegiate career he was drafted in the 25th Round by the Cleveland Indians where he played in their minor league system for 2 years.
Ryan earned his Associate of Arts in General Studies from New Mexico Junior College, Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from New Mexico State University, and Master of Education in Education Administration from Lamar University. He received his Principal certificate from Region IV and is also certified in 8-12 Life Sciences.
As an Assistant Principal, it is my goal to create a positive learning environment that supports student success. I believe all students can achieve when educators utilize effective communication, strong classroom management, parental involvement, academic rigor, accountability, and high expectations for all. As a member of the school community, it is my duty to communicate effectively, implement instructional strategies, and establish partnerships conducive to a learning environment where all students can succeed.
