THURSDAY, August 6th
Thursday focuses on Choice Sessions. Access Choice Sessions via Sched. You can select from many offerings from departments across the district. Make sure you review all the options in Sched before you select your sessions. If you need guidance, reach out to your campus for suggestions.

If you have a conflict on Thursday, you can still take choice sessions on August 10th and/or 11th at the New Teacher Summit. You must complete a minimum of two choice sessions over the three days but you are highly encouraged to take more since there are so many useful sessions available. • If you have your HISD credentials and network access, complete TADS, if you haven't already. This is done via OneSource unlike all the other sessions which you access through Sched

Compensation

  • Newly hired, full time teachers* can earn a maximum of $300 for completing all NTA strands (A, B, C).  New teachers are welcome to attend any/all additional sessions, by choice, but are not compensated as a part of NTA. Not completing all trainings within a strand will result in half payment ($50) or no payment.  Participants must complete the full training(s) and attendance requirements.

*Teachers must be newly hired in an HISD Full-Time position to be considered eligible for a training stipend. "Teachers" include all full-time employees appraised using TADS. Hourly Lecturers and Associate Teachers are welcome to attend but are not stipend eligible.

Stipend payments will not be awarded until newly hired teachers, nurses and librarians have begun their duty schedule in their assigned job role for the academic year and stipends will be dispersed on or before October 19, 2020. All discrepancies or inquiries regarding New Teacher Academy stipend payments and attendance must be submitted no later than 5 PM on September 18, 2020.
