Hello! My name is Joan Cotton, and I teach Biology and IPC here at Debakey. I graduated in 2015 from the University of Houston-Downtown (go, Gators!) with a B.S. in Biology with a concentration in Microbiology and a minor in Chemistry. In my eight years of teaching, I've taught high school students as well as elementary Math and Science for three years. This year, my goal is to move toward a more inquiry-based approach with my Science students to spark creativity and innovation in their learning.

When I'm not teaching or doing teacher-related things, I enjoy exercising, playing video games, reading, and hanging out with my dogs.
