    9th Grade Assistant Principal

    Camiel was born in Jamaica, but lived in West Palm Beach, Florida. Ms. Neal moved to Houston in 1991, and she has been here since. She earned her undergraduate degree from Florida Atlantic University and her graduate degree from Lamar University. Camiel has been at Madison High School for 15 years, and with Houston ISD for 20 years. She has served the district in a variety of roles, but most noteably as an Academic Counselor, a Special Education Teacher, and an AVID Teacher/Coordinator. Her goals include working with the Administrative Team to ensure the graduation of all students, serve the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students, and maintain a safe, trusting, and caring environment for the students, staff, parents, and community members of James Madison High School. She is a mother to two children, and in her free time enjoys jogging, trail walking, and watching Houston-Texans football.

    • 9th Grade Administrator
    • Oversee the CTE Department
    • Evaluate student transcripts to ensure graduation requirements are met within 4 years
    • Address the Tier 2 and Tier 3 students' academic and social-emotional needs

    Assistant Principal

    Rufus Singleton is a native Houstonian, where he grew up in the heart of the Acres Homes Community.  He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, before attending Huston-Tillotson College, where he received a B.A. in Business Administration. He then attended Prairie View A&M University and received a Masters of Education.  He has served as a life long educator in the Houston Independent School District. Rufus is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated.  The one thing he is most proud of, is being a devoted husband and loving father.  In his spare time, he enjoys public speaking and reciting poetry.  His educational philosophy is very simple, students do not care how much you know, until they know how much you care.
