Frequently Asked Questions

    • My child is returing to Madison for face -to-face instruction. Does he/she attend school every day?
      • No, the student will only attend either Monday/Tuesday(Group 1) or Thursday/Friday (Group 2) and alternate Fridays depending on their last name. Students with the last name A-J are considered Group 1 and will attend Monday/Tuesday. Students with the last name K-Z  are considered Group 2 will attend on Wednesday/Thursday. Groups 1 and 2 will alternate Fridays.

     

    • My child does not have his/her ID. When will they get them?
      • ID's will be made and handed out the first week of school.

     

    • Will students have to wear uniforms to school?
      • No, HISD has suspended uniforms for the 20-21 school year. However, students must follow a dress code and be appropriately dressed for school. To view Madison's guidelines please click here 

     

    • I want my child to remain virtual. However, she takes cosmetology. Her teacher is telling her that she has to come to school to receive credit. Is this true?
      • Yes, if a student is enrolled in courses that work towards a certification then the student MUST come to school to receive credit. However, you child may remain virtual for all other classes. You may bring your child to school for that class and they may leave after. Students will sign/in and out in the front office. Students may not stay for other classes if you have indicated that they will be virtual. There are no exceptions to this rule. 
      • Courses that require face to face attendance are welding, auto mechanics, and cosmetology. 

     

    • Are their rules around the types of masks students can wear?
      • Yes, students must wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth. Student may not wear neck gaitors or masks that have valves. 

     

    •  I chose for my child to stay virtual. However, I now want them to return to the school. Is this possible?
      • Not in the middle of a 6 weeks grading cycle. Parent commitments are for 6 weeks. When the grading cycle is over you may change your choice to face-to-face or virtual. The next grading cycle begins in January. 

     

    • Is my child safe returning to school?
      • We are making every effort for students and staff to remain safe. High touch areas are cleaned every hour, water fountains are not able to be used, lunch and breakfast is in the classroom, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) must be worn at all times, temperatures are checked, student capacity is at 50%, and no visitors are allowed on campus. If you have further inquiries please call the school. 

     

    • Can my child bring their own lunch?
      • Yes, student may bring their own lunch and breakfast. However, they will not have access to microwaves or refrigerators. Students will not be allowed to utilize food delivery services such as Uber Eats or Doordash.
