Ms. Chellam

Greetings Parents,

I’m super excited to meet each of you and teach your kiddos. This school year I will be going into my 14th year of teaching Pre-Kindergarten and my first-year teaching at Memorial Elementary. Pre - K is the nucleus of how your child will develop cognitively, socially & emotionally. You will witness your child grow before your eyes! My most important goal is to create a family environment of lifelong learners. I’m committed to creating a classroom environment where your child is loved and is an integral part of our family of learners.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts/Studio Art and Art History from Texas Southern University and did Post Graduate Studies at St. Thomas University in Liberal Arts with emphasis in Art History.

I was born in The Bronx, New York, but raised a southern girl. In addition to teaching I'm a visual artist. I created two murals in the City of Houston. The Museum of Fine Arts summer program and the City of Houston Parks and Recreations department commissioned me to work with children in the community to design and paint a mural that represented their values and pride in their neighborhood. I was also commissioned by the Community Artists Collective to collaborate with well-known artists in the Houston community to help high school students design and paint a mural for Houston International High School.

""There is nothing quite like teaching. I'm honored because through teaching, I fulfill my passion everyday. I love working with children. There is no better feeling than that “ah ha” moment when a child finally understands a lesson or concept. Witnessing a child's learning progress renews my spirit each day""
