Degrees and Certifications:
I was born in Bogota, Colombia, we moved to Alaska when I was three years old and continued to live abroad until my twelfth birthday. I graduated from SLHS in Katy, TX and went on to St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX where I double majored in Digital Media Management and International Business. After graduation, I worked at NRG until I decided a desk job just wasn’t for me. Shortly after, I started subbing at Beth Yeshurun Day School and I fell in love with teaching! Later that year I got my alternate certification and started my first year at the Arabic Immersion Magnet School as a kindergarten teacher where I won the first-year teacher award, I stayed at AIMS one more year teaching third grade science. That spring I got my bilingual certification and moved to Hollibrook Elementary in SBISD the next school year. I taught bilingual kindergarten there for two years; one of them was solely online! I am happy to be back in HISD at school with deep ties to its community. When I am not at work I like to cook, listen to music, garden and travel! I try to go back home to Colombia at least once a year to see my extended family.
