Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Sergio Latorre and I was born in Madrid, the Capital of Spain. I am in love with my city; however I also love traveling and learning about new places, different cultures and the people I that I meet there.
I completed all my studies in Madrid, and have been working with kids for almost 20 years, both in the US and around the world, starting as an Extracurricular Sports Activities Coordinator at a high school, where I realized how much I loved working with children. At that point I knew that I should focus my attention and studies in areas that would allow me to work with and teach children daily. After finishing my Bachelor’s degree in Sports at European University in Madrid, I decided to get a High School Teacher Certification and two years later I also earned my Elementary Teacher Certification with a specialization in P.E.
When I finished with my Certifications and Degrees, I was fortunate enough to begin working at a wonderful School, where I worked as a Math, Spanish and P.E. teacher from 1st to 6th Grade for 8 years. In addition to working as an elementary school teacher, I have also taken part in a summer camp in New York as a Counselor thanks to a YMCA program.
Throughout my teaching career and with all of my experiences I have learned how gratifying it is to teach and have an impact on the minds of children and their education. What I love most about my job is working with kids, watching them improve their skills and mathematical thinking.
Experiencing life in the USA has always been a goal of mine and it has allowed me to combine things that I enjoy the most: teaching and learning from new cultures. I feel so proud and grateful to be a part of the Memorial family, and I am looking forward to working with new students and helping them with numbers, while I also learn from them, as well as all of the Memorial faculty.
