My name is Alicia Acevedo. This is my fourth year here at Wharton DLA, and the start of my 14th year teaching! I am from Houston, and am a first generation Mexican-American. I received both my Bachelors of Arts as well my Masters in Dual Language Education from the University of St. Thomas. I have taught the majority of my career in Houston, but have also taught in China and Mexico. 

I am happy to say that I am following my former 5th grade students up to middle school! I will be teaching 6th and 7th grade English Language Arts, as well as 8th U.S. History. I am very excited to make the leap to middle school, and look forward to a fantastic year.  

Mi nombre is Alicia Acevedo. Este es mi cuarto año en la escuela Wharton, y el comienzo de mi 14º año de enseñanza! Soy de Houston y soy mexicano-estadounidense de primera generación. Recibí tanto mi Licenciatura en Artes como mi Maestría en Educación de Lenguaje Dual de la Universidad de St. Thomas. He enseñado la mayor parte de mi carrera en Houston, pero también he enseñado en China y México. 

¡Me alegra decir que estoy siguiendo a mis alumnos de quinto grado hasta la escuela secudaria! Enseñaré artes del lenguaje en inglés de sexto y séptimo grado, y también de  historia de los EE. UU. de octavo grado. Estoy muy emocionado de dar el salto a la escuela secundaria y espero tener un año fantástico.
