• Graphic Design 
     
    Careers in graphic design and illustration span all aspects of the advertising and visual communications industries. In addition to developing knowledge and skills needed for success in the arts, and Communications career clusters, students will be expected to develop an understanding of the industry with a focus on fundamental elements and principles of visual art and design and develop mastery in available software and platforms. 

    At the end of this course, you will have mastered the following:

    • Apply English language arts knowledge and skills by demonstrating use of content, technical concepts, and vocabulary. Use correct grammar, punctuation, and terminology to write and edit documents.
    • Implement personal and workplace safety rules and regulations.
    • Employ design elements and principles to create multimedia projects.
    • Portfolio: demonstrate knowledge of software associated with graphic illustrations.
    • Interpret, evaluate, and justify design decisions.
    • Research art and design career opportunities and qualifications.

    Digital Media 
     
    With the advent of blogs, wikis and smart phones, there is a need for greater exposure to interactive media and delivery of contents for public consumption and communication. This course will expose students to various multimedia platforms, how to use and critique new media elements, and ways to build technical skills in several software and applications.

    At the end of this course, you will have mastered the following: 
    • Identify careers in multimedia fields
    • Apply English language arts knowledge and skills by demonstrating use of content, technical concepts, and vocabulary. Use correct grammar, punctuation, and terminology to write and edit documents.
    • Create interactive media using available software.
    • Employ organizational and presentation skills to educate peers. 
    • Portfolio: demonstrate knowledge in graphic, art, web, and interactive media production and software.
    • Research art and design career opportunities and qualifications.

    Principles of Art & Audio/Video
     
    This is an introductory course to careers in media, graphics imaging, and audio/video production fields. Students will explore career choices, salary levels, and job prospects in several multimedia fields. Students will research, write, and create presentations for their peers and teachers. 

    At the end of this course, you will have mastered the following:

    • Identify careers in multimedia.
    •  Apply English language arts knowledge and skills by demonstrating use of content, technical concepts, and vocabulary. Use correct grammar, punctuation, and terminology to write and edit documents
    • Create salary skill presentations using PowerPoint skills.
    • Employ organizational and presentation skills to educate peers. 
    • Portfolio: demonstrate knowledge in script writing, camera operation, and editing audio/video contents.
