• Music Matters!

Here at Billy Reagan K-8 Learning Center music is an important part of student development. Research shows that music studies improve student achievement in reading, language, math, science and social studies. When students learn music, they are learning memory and sequencing skills, critical thinking skills, spatial and linear reasoning, vocabulary, and much more. Through music, students also learn to identify with their culture as well as the cultural heritage of others. Music is all around us and music matters!

    Sing, Play, Act, Dance, Create!

In general music class students from kindergarten through 5th grade, experience various cultures through the arts. Activities include singing, dancing, role playing (drama) and playing various rhythmic instruments such as the congas, xylophones, and tone chimes. Creativity and self expression is encouraged through music composition, poetry and play writing.

    Sing A Song!

Billy Reagan has two singing ensembles. The elementary concert and show choir and the middle school musical theater group. Both groups will be performing on campus as well as for several off-campus events each school year. Students are admitted to choir through an audition process that tests rather students are able to sing in tune. In order to participate in choir students must maintain passing grades in all core subjects and an E or S in conduct. The choir uniform is as follows:

Elementary:    Yellow polo shirt with the school emblem

                            Black dress slacks

                            Black Belt

    Black Dress Shoes

Middle:           Blue polo shirt with the school emblem
