• Students will demonstrate sports skills with an understanding of rules, terminology, and etiquette necessary for participation in physical activity Students may earn a maximum of one physical education credit per year and a maximum of ½ credit per semester. Therefore, if a student participates in athletics which meets during the school day and at the same time participates in athletics, which meets before or after school; credit will be given only for the athletic period met during the school day.

    NO MORE THAN 1.5 CREDITS MAY BE EARNED AS PHYSICAL EDUCATION CREDIT DURING THE FOUR YEARS IN HIGH SCHOOL. PARTICIPATING IN ATHLETIS FOR FOUR YEARS WIIL GIVE A STUDENT ONLY 1.5 CREDIT IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION.

    FOUNDATIONS OF PERSONAL FITNESS
    Recommended to be taken in 9th grade .
    Prerequisite for all other physical education courses.
    The purpose of the class is to motivate students to strive for lifetime personal fitness with an emphasis on the health- related components of physical fitness.

    ADVENTURE/OUTDOOR EDUCATION
    Prerequisite: Foundations of Personal Fitness
    Students will develop competencies in outdoor education activities that provide opportunities for enjoyment and challenges

    INDIVIDUAL SPORTS
    Prerequisite: Foundations of Personal Fitness
    Students will be expected to participate in a wide range of individual sports that can be pursued for a lifetime.

    TEAM SPORTS
    Prerequisite: Foundations of Personal Fitness
    Students will develop an appreciation for teamwork, fair play, and the concept of incorporating physical activities into their lifestyles.

    HEALTH EDUCATION
    Grad: 9 - 12
    This course focuses attention on the aspects of good physical, social, emotional and mental health. Topics will include mental/emotional health, HIV awareness, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, safety and first aid awareness, development of healthful attitudes and habits. Health Education is required for high school graduation.
