Sharon Teague grew up in San Diego, California as the eldest of five children. At the age of nine, her parents enrolled her in dance classes to overcome extreme shyness. Ballet became an immediate obsession and by the age of sixteen she was invited to train at the Houston Ballet Academy on a full scholarship. A year later she joined the Houston Ballet and performed with the company for 13 years before retiring as a First Soloist in 2009.
For the next decade Mrs. Teague dedicated herself to raising her two daughters, extensively teaching ballet to children of all ages, and directing the Missouri City Ballet (a nonprofit 501c3 youth performing company). During this time, she also began and finished her college degrees and teacher certificates at the University of Houston-Downtown. Mrs. Teague began teaching at Poe Elementary during the 2019- 2020 school year. She has taught first and second grade.
Mrs. Teague has been married to Stewart Teague for 23 years. He is a secondary science teacher and has worked in HISD for nearly 20 years. Their daughter Jenny attends Bellaire High School and Clementine attends Pershing Middle School. When Mrs. Teague is not teaching, she is cooking, playing with her dogs, or reading.
