Holland Robotics is on the move
- This year Holland students were given the opportunity to take robotics as an elective. So far the classes have been very interdisciplinary, reinforcing math concepts at the beginning of the semester and transitioning into science material as the course has progressed. Before students were given the opportunity to program their robots to move in a circle, they had to address multiplication, radii and circumferences. When they learned how to use the light and sound sensors, they had to discuss the different types of waves, which complemented what they learned in their regular science classes. The team has participated in several competitions so far. The most recent competition involved creating a robot that would fulfill a number of tasks on a given Lego course as well as a research component on the effects of climate change in our community. We look forward to hearing much more about our robotics team. Students who wish to join the after school robotics team should contact Ms. Willis in room 510.
