The Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) was created by the Texas Legislature as part of House Bill 3 to provide a realistic pathway for top teachers to earn higher salaries and to help attract and retain highly effective teachers at traditionally hard-to-staff schools.
The Houston Independent School District (HISD) currently does not have a Local Designation System approved by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). However, HISD is proud to have teachers who are Recognized, Exemplary, and Master in their fields. Their dedication and expertise are essential to our students' success and the district's commitment to educational excellence. Teachers designated for the 2023-2024 school year can access information about HISD's spending plan here. Please review the details to stay informed.
